My first magazine cover
I never thought that I would be approached to be on the cover of a publication that reaches 40,000 households so when the editor at Hamilton Magazine called I was taken aback.
She explained that they were preparing a feature article on personal chefs and asked if I wanted to participate. You bet that I jumped at the chance and began thinking about reducing my carb intake for a few days.
When it came time for the photo shoot I prepared two summer salads that are also favourites that my clients' repeatedly ask for; spinach and arugula with strawberries, blueberries and walnuts with a raspberry vinaigrette and a classic mango and red onion with sesame lime dressing. Harry Gils and his wife Dana Cowie Gils were great to work with and like me, appreciate the aesthetic beauty of a well placed sesame seed.
The shoot was over it was clear that the food was the star - not me. I was thrilled when Harry sent me the first proofs and the news that I got the cover of the Spring issue.
